Getting Mauritius citizenship is becoming increasingly popular, whether it’s citizenship by descent, citizenship by naturalisation or Mauritius citizenship by investment. In 2022, Mauritius ranked 9th globally in economic freedom. Additionally, Mauritius has tax agreements with over 40 countries and a flat tax rate of 15%, with no taxes on capital gains, dividends, or inheritance, making it attractive for living or starting a business. When it comes to getting Mauritius citizenship by descent, adoption, marriage, or registration, the authorities unfortunately do not allow us to do this on the behalf of clients.
To get Mauritius citizenship by investment, in theory, the applicant must have invested at least $500,000 and lived in the country for at least 2 years. This is very unlikely and is not an easy process. However, there are alternatives to this pathway. By investing at least USD 375,000 in an approved property scheme, foreigners can live in Mauritius permanently. Alternatively, foreigners can apply for a 20-year permit after 3 years of being on a retirement or occupation permit. More details on the different pathways below
